Fact and Opinion

I completed a task called fact or opinion.

First I listen to the story called the highway. The story is about the highway rat who is a bad person who steals peoples food, but a duck tricked the rat into thinking she has a sister at the top of the

Next I wrote down the facts. An fact is something that you think is true. For example one of my facts: The duck told the rat there is a cave with a echoey sound.

After I wrote down my opinions. An opinion is something that you think is true. For example one of my opinions are: The duck didn't want to get eat from the highway rat.

Lastly I wrote down 5 adjectives for each opinion to describe the character trait. One of my adjectives is:  anxious.

I enjoyed this task because I like finding out about facts and opinions.

Multiplication

I learn multiplication with my group.

First I took a big group of counters then I spilt into groups of 5.

After spiting the counters into 5 we organise them into a rectangle then we took a picture of the counters.

Then I used multiplication to find out the unknown amount which is 45.

Next I use time tables to find out the amount numbers.

Multiplication is a fast way of adding the same number many times.

LI: to use multiplication to count many items.

Visualisation-Highway Rat

Visualisation is creating pictures in your head. This helps understand what we read.

Highway Rat is about a Rat who is greedy and steals everyone's food. He learns a lesson and everyone lives happily.

We have differentiate Visualisation because we have different pictures.

Place Value & Saying Numbers

Place Value is a system that groups numbers based on their size.

The position of a digit determines its value. When we say numbers we group then within the same house. For example 15709 has fifteen thousands, seven hundreds and nine ones.

Understanding our base 10 place value system allows us to pronounce big numbers properly. It also allows us to identify numbers before and after.

Mihi Whakatau

Mihi Whakatau is a Maori term for a formal greeting.

Mihi Whakatau is traditionally used for welcoming introduction and opening.

It is undertaken by Tangat Whenua (local inhabitants). The Mihi needs to acknowledge the significant aspect to the place. The Maunga (mountain), Awa (river), and \Iwi (tribe) are generally used.

Introducing Ingoa (names), Oku tipuna (ancestral place) and where you live is important for the audience to understand the position of the speaker.

Manuhiri is the term used to describe or group the visitors that are being welcomed.

it is important to end with warm welcome so the visitors know that there is no hostility in the 2 groups being together.

Being respectful of the land, the people and the purpose of a visit will ensure long lasting relationship and connection.

AFL training

We went on our school field to play AFL which is Australian Football.

First the coach showed us passing skills then we had to spread out on the field and one of our partners had to grab the ball and then we held the ball on the right hand and we had to throw the ball in the air then punch it softly with your right hand.

Then the coach showed us how to kick, after practising how to kick the ball and throwing it in the air well punching it softly we played a game called octopus. The coach had to say run if you a wearing socks and if you get touched with the ball then you have to freeze like a starfish and someone has to high five you to save you.

After playing octopus we practised kicking the ball at the coach and our teacher. I did not hit anyone though.

I liked playing octopus because I got to practice the new skills.

I need to improve my "p" by writing it in one move.

LS1 Learning Treaty

We learnt about the 3 Ps in the Treaty of Waitangi and how they apply to our learning.

Mr Ogilvie introduced the 3 Ps in the Treaty of Waitangi. They are protection, partnership and participation.

Then in group we wrote statements about the 3 Ps in LS1.

LS1 figured out the 3 Ps are all connected.

After that we used our group ideas and thought about how they connected to me.

I chose these 3 statements because they will help me be successful with my learning in LS1.

I will work on this statements by helping other people when they need help.
