Introduction

A introduction can have a intresting question or a hook.

First Mr Ogilvie showed us a video about how to write a hook and what is a hook.
Next, we wrote an introduction and a hook about three different topics.

Do you know there are multiple celebrations of chocolate each year. To make chocolate you will need milk, butter, suger and cocoa beans this can cause the chocolate to taste sweet and a lit bit sour and better.

Did you know that fireworks originated in China around 2000 years ago? you will need a fuse and a stick and a string this cause the fire work to go up in the sky.

Next time I will write a better introduction and add more writing to my introduction.

Balancing

This week I was passing balls to my partner while balancing

First I had to try and catch the basketball while balancing on one leg without falling. I think that this was hard to do because we had to balance of our weak leg.

Seconed was the netball we had to do the same thing as the basketball but the netball part was we had to bounce the ball two time and then we throw the ball to the other person.

The third actvitiy was the rugby ball. For the ruby part we had to pass the ball facing the side. This was kind of easy because i had to go on my weak leg but I could catch the ball when it goes side to side.

Forth was the hokey equipment. We had to roll the ball to the other person then they roll it back to you but you have to swing the hokey stick so the ball can roll to the other person.

Lastly was the frisbee. We had to do the same thing as hockey, but when we throw the frisbee our hips move diffrent direction. This challange was hard because we had to balance on one leg.

Questions

This week I learnt a new Maori questions that can help me learn words in Maori.

First I learnt how to say Kei hea te pene rākau? this means where is the pen.

After I also learnt how to say Kei raro i te pene pukapuka? which means the pen is under the book.

This activity was fun because It hepls me with my Maori class.

A idiom is a word that is the same meaning that are not the same. For example: You have been late so many times it means like your late a lot of time to work.

Calendars

Calendars show us the Day, week or month.

There are 12 month in the year, they are: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December.

Months have 28,30 or 31 days.

There are number patterns on a calendar by looking for four connecting days for exaple 20, 60 & 100.

Knowing before and after number sequenee and 7 timetables helps us reading a calendar.

Tipping point

I learned how to control my tipping point.

First, we practiced tipping points by playing a game called Block Twister.

Afterwards, we had a recap of the tipping point.

I enjoyed the the game, but it was hard at the same because I was struggling with balancing.

Passing

Today I learned how to tell other people to pass somthing in Maori.

First we needed to revised what we learnt last week the words was tenei, tena and tera.

Next I learnt how to tell someone to pass something on. Example: Hoatu te Ika ki te taha maui. It means pass the fish to the left.

This was hard because I was struggling to say the words properly.

Using Manners

Manners are used for showing respect to others people. They use formal language.

You can use manners when someone is greeting you and giving something.

Manners are used when someone opens the door for you, greet you well saying other people name.

People use manners when there teachers are talking. People use manners to respect eachother.

When your asking for something say may I and please. For example: May I go to the toliet.

Showing manners to other people makes them show manners back.

Problem solving

Today in groups we did problem sloving about time.

First I had to work out what the question was with my group.

Next we wrote down the answers on a google doc.

Lastly we showed our results to Mr Ogilvie.

This task was kind of hard because I knew some of the question.

HPE I Balance

I learned about balancing.

First Mr Ogilvie taught us about what balancing means and is about. It is about finding your tipping point.

Next we did the balancing beam activity. We had to cross the balancing beam without touching the floor. There were 2 people on each team going to the other team at the same time. We had to help eachother balance.

Then we had to try and balance on a ball like the tipping point. We used other people to help use balance and when we were confident we let go and tried to balance by oursleves.

I think the balancing on the ball was the hardest because I did not do very well on the ball.

Analog Clock

Analog clocks are a piece of technology that helps tell time.

A clock has 3 mechanisms. The secondp` hand moves around the clock the fastest.

The minute hand is the longest and moves when the second hand completes 1 rotation.

The hour hand moves the slowest and moves between the big numbers.

An analog clock requires you to look outside to know if it is morning or afternoon.
