Line Art
This week I created some line art.
The first line art I did was and dimond it was difficult when I first tried by I kept on moving on.
Next I did and eye line art. It was easy the first time I did it but when I did more of the eye design I kept on failing but I kept trying.
Last the did a star line art which was challenging for me but as I made more I got better and better.

Planting Vegetables
Basil is an easy plant to grow.
Always have saftey gear before your doing the soil part because there is a bacteria called Legionella Longbeachae which will get you sick or die from it.

Persuasive speech Plan
First I needed to pick a topic for my persuasive speech. My topic for my persuasive speech is why we should use less plastic. Then I wrote what my argument was and my argument is we should use less plastic because if we throw plastic bags or coffee cups in the ocean the sea animals will die.

Water Safety
First we did a line arm stroke. To do a line arm stroke you have to put your head in the front and your arms are in the middle of you. Then we moved on to the next activity.
Next we did an arm circle. An arm circle is when you are facing the bottom of the water and your hands are going above you well your swimming. The next activity we did was a dolphin dive
Lastly, we did a dolphin dive. To do a dolphin dive you have to have your arm together and straight and go underneath the water and slowly come up.
I enjoyed learning about swimming.

Brain Stoming
First I brainstormed ideas for our speech. We watched two videos about persuasion text. Then we wrote our ideas in the table (chart).
Next I wrote 5 ideas about 3 different category . The 3 different category were yourself, the school, and the world.
Lastly we had to highlight the ideas that we know a lot and we don't know that much about. Green means that you know a lot about. Yellow means that you don't know that much about and red means that you don't know much about.
The experience was amazing because I brain stormed ideas to make a persuasion.

Passing
Today I learned how to tell other people to pass somthing in Maori.
First we needed to revised what we learnt last week the words was tenei, tena and tera.
Next I learnt how to tell someone to pass something on. Example: Hoatu te Ika ki te taha maui. It means pass the fish to the left.

Using Manners
You can use manners when someone is greeting you and giving something.
Manners are used when someone opens the door for you, greet you well saying other people name.
People use manners when there teachers are talking. People use manners to respect eachother.

HPE I Balance
Then we had to try and balance on a ball like the tipping point. We used other people to help use balance and when we were confident we let go and tried to balance by oursleves.

A clock has 3 mechanisms. The secondp` hand moves around the clock the fastest.
The minute hand is the longest and moves when the second hand completes 1 rotation.
The hour hand moves the slowest and moves between the big numbers.

Teamwork consists of three main mechanisims. Communicaton is talking to or planning somthing out. When people in a dodgeball team communicate they tell each other when a ball is coming their way.
Cooperation is being a good team member while working together. People in a dodgeball team cooperate by listening and following a plan to be successful.
Collaboration is working together to be successful or finish something. An example of collabration is when players in a dodgeball team collabrate and work together in a game to win.
Making Connection
Making connections are an important way to understand a meaning. Connecting texts to other things or people can help you understand similairities.

Private vs Public Information
Public Information is something that can be posted on the internet and can be shared with other people.
Private Information should be kept private and should not be on internet or something bad could happen.
If Information isn't kept safe, it could be shared, bordcast, copied, or stolen.

Character Trait The Duck
A character trait is describing an action of the character.
A character trait uses adjectives to decribe the character. In the Highway Rat there was 3 character that can be describe using traits.
The duck is confident because she tries to defend herself from the highway rat so he doesn't take her cupcake.
The duck is clever becaus the duck lead the rat to the duck sisters cave in the mountain. The rat gose into the cave and the duck runs to the horse so the rat dose not treat the horse bad foods.
Using these adjectives it can be inferred that the Duck is clever, respectful, brave.
Using Character traits can help the reader understand how or why a character is doing something.

Fact and Opinion
I completed a task called fact or opinion.
First I listen to the story called the highway. The story is about the highway rat who is a bad person who steals peoples food, but a duck tricked the rat into thinking she has a sister at the top of the
Next I wrote down the facts. An fact is something that you think is true. For example one of my facts: The duck told the rat there is a cave with a echoey sound.
After I wrote down my opinions. An opinion is something that you think is true. For example one of my opinions are: The duck didn't want to get eat from the highway rat.
Lastly I wrote down 5 adjectives for each opinion to describe the character trait. One of my adjectives is: anxious.
I enjoyed this task because I like finding out about facts and opinions.

Place Value & Saying Numbers
Place Value is a system that groups numbers based on their size.
The position of a digit determines its value.When we say numbers we group then within the same house.For example 15709 has fifteen thousands, seven hundreds and nine ones.
Understanding our base 10 place value system allows us to pronounce big numbers properly.It also allows us to identify numbers before and after.

Mihi Whakatau
Mihi Whakatau is a Maori term for a formal greeting.
Mihi Whakatau is traditionally used for welcoming introduction and opening.
It is undertaken by Tangat Whenua (local inhabitants). The Mihi needs to acknowledge the significant aspect to the place. The Maunga (mountain), Awa (river), and \Iwi (tribe) are generally used.
Introducing Ingoa (names), Oku tipuna (ancestral place) and where you live is important for the audience to understand the position of the speaker.
Manuhiri is the term used to describe or group the visitors that are being welcomed.
it is important to end with warm welcome so the visitors know that there is no hostility in the 2 groups being together.
Being respectful of the land, the people and the purpose of a visit will ensure long lasting relationship and connection.

Basic Facts Boxes
I tried the speed demon challenge up to 5.
It took me 8 minutes and 58 seconds to finish my basic facts I got 95/100 right.
I also need to practise my basic facts more and I will try to type faster.
AFL training
First the coach showed us passing skills then we had to spread out on the field and one of our partners had to grab the ball and then we held the ball on the right hand and we had to throw the ball in the air then punch it softly with your right hand.
Then the coach showed us how to kick, after practising how to kick the ball and throwing it in the air well punching it softly we played a game called octopus. The coach had to say run if you a wearing socks and if you get touched with the ball then you have to freeze like a starfish and someone has to high five you to save you.
After playing octopus we practised kicking the ball at the coach and our teacher. I did not hit anyone though.
I liked playing octopus because I got to practice the new skills.
Print Design Rules
I learned about the print Design Rules.
First Mr Wong taught us about the main aspects of the Print Design Rules, colour, layout, text, composition.
Next, I figured out which poster were good and bad with my partners.
Last I reorganised a poster to make it look good.
Prototec
I went on Prototec to learn new basic facts.
First I did stage 5 I got groupings within 100 wrong and my subtraction to 20 some was wrong and right.
Then my last one was division using 2, 5, 10, I need to practise division more.
I need to practise some of my division and my grouping with 100.

Handwriting
I learned how to write the alphabet, and symbols properly.
I watched a video to show neat handwriting. I wrote the characters neatly into my writing book.
I need to improve my "p" by writing it in one move.
LS1 Learning Treaty
We learnt about the 3 Ps in the Treaty of Waitangi and how they apply to our learning.
Mr Ogilvie introduced the 3 Ps in the Treaty of Waitangi. They are protection, partnership and participation.
Then in group we wrote statements about the 3 Ps in LS1.
LS1 figured out the 3 Ps are all connected.
After that we used our group ideas and thought about how they connected to me.
I chose these 3 statements because they will help me be successful with my learning in LS1.
I will work on this statements by helping other people when they need help.

SSR Selfie - Jesus is born
I read a small section of Jesus was born.
I read the page of Joseph had a dream of the carpenter who was betrothed to Mary, learned that she was pregnant, he decided to end their betrothal, because he was not the father of her child.
He hoped to do it quietly, however, her in front of her friends. Then an angel of the Lord came to him in a dream and said Joseph don't be afraid to marry Mary. The baby she is carrying is from God. She will bear you a son and you will name him Jesus which means saviour because he will save his people.
Other people wanted to name him John,Peter but Mary said we should name him Jesus because she remember what the angel said to her at church.
I enjoyed reading this book because it tell me about Jesus is born.

Basic Facts Sheets
I created a basic facts chart using Google Sheets.
My partner and I started by finding number bonds, doubles, and times tables using blocks.
While finding out some basic facts using blocks, I recorded the results in a spreadsheet.
Next I created a chart by using spreadsheet tricks like copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) and selection dragging to quickly fill in the repeated information.
I thought that this activity was enjoyable and interesting and I also learned a lot about number bonds.
